What is a Livelink Expert Bio?

On this page and within this Public, you will learn all about the content type called a "Livelink Expert Bio" also known as a "lle-expert". This is a highly specialized content type that is used throughout the Livelink-Experts.com community to identify and promote our members. Paying members, the "Livelink Expert" role, not only have greater functionality out of the Livelink Expert Bio content type but are also privy to help and support like this. Here we will describe every single field on the page and their relative importance to you, to the various community technologies, and to the internet at large.
Let's first make sure we are all saying and meaning the same thing with a few definitions:

  • Form: this is a browser-based display of Fields and Fieldgroups that provide a way to prompt for and accept various types of input from a user. One form or another will be used to create and modify virtually 100% of the content wihin the community (though we do have the ability to import content in a batch fashion if need be, just ask)
  • Field: a single, named and addressable area on a form that accepts or displays specific data
  • Fieldgroup: a collection of fields within a Form, these are often displayed as Horizontal or Vertical Tabs but may simply form the title of a bordered region
  • Input Types: different fields accept different types of data, like: raw text; integers; decimals; floats; pick-lists; sliders; user references; node references; dates; colours; and more
  • Input Filter: Most Fields that accept Text include one or more Input Filters that are applied to the data entered by the user, these filters can vary greatly, some examples include: "Plain Text"; "Premium User" (a WYSIWYG HTML environment); "Image Text" (where text is converted to images); "PHP" (where the input is taken as the computer language PHP); and "Standards Compliant HTML". NOTE: The default Input Filter is "Plain Text", which is not suitable for most content types but is required for security purposes. You are urged to habitually change this.
  • Collapsed / uncollapsed: Fieldgroups that are not Vertical Tabs may be displayed either Collapsed (where the fields within are hidden from view until the user opens up the fieldgroup) or Uncollapsed where all fields are visible.
  • Menu / Menu Item: a standard web site navigational aid, menus are a structured collection of URLs within the community; Most content is automatically assigned a menu title and linked to a menu when created and although you often have the option of changing this, it is typically better to work with the default values than assigning your own (but it is your community so if you feel it appropriate and it doesn't interfere with anybody else, feel free to update it).
